On Monday's first meet up with the Phoenix Suns, a line-up which included NO starters came out strong. Trent Forrest made 7 of his first 8 shots against the Sun's #1 rated defense in the NBA. They were causing turnovers, getting past defenders, syncing floaters, and overall just playing good basketball. They carried a lead until about the last four minutes of the game and unfortunately the game ended in a 115-109 loss behind the game's top scorer - Devin Booker's 33 points.
In tonight's game!!! Three of the Utah Jazz's starting Line Up returned, AND... They came out ICE. COLD. Bogdonavic, Ingles, and Royce O' Neals return did not seem to trouble the Suns.
Still without help from Gobert and Mitchell... Tonight, Mike Conley's 16 pts and Jordan Clarkson's 26 pts, were not enough to help Utah come back from a 21 POINT FIRST-QUARTER DEFICIT! Although they heated up in the second, and ended the half DOWN BY TWO, Devin Booker's 43 point night ultimately lead to a 105-97 Victory for the Phoenix Suns. He has a thing for putting up great numbers against the Jazz. Tonight... 21 points in the first quarter.
It will be exciting to see how each team's guards (Athleticism of Donovan Mitchell and Skillset of Mike Conley - vs - The dynamics of Devin Booker and the Game Closing Efficiency of Chris Paul) compete in their third match-up against each other on April 8th at Vivint Smart Arena. This game CP3 had plenty of patent 12-foot jumpers, and then combined with a handful of Booker's 18' pull-ups; the duo combined for 60 points in Monday's game and 64 points in tonights.
Drop some suggestions in the comments for Quinn Snyder on how to throw off the sun's guards.
